Kombucha is an “ancient fermented tea beverage” that has a natural effervescence, tart, slightly sweet & refreshing – full of probiotics, antioxidants, B vitamins and so much more!
The ingredients are simple. Tea + water + sugar + kombucha culture (symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast AKA: SCOBY).
Kombucha consists of a fine balance between these ingredients and the bacteria and yeast in the SCOBY; together, they produce beneficial things like probiotics, acetic acid, and gluconic acid.
The sugar is the culture’s food source. We choose free trade, raw, organic cane sugar to ensure the most minerals & nutrients available.
Kombucha fermentation breaks down sucrose into fructose and glucose which feed the yeast which feeds the bacteria which feeds you. AWESOME!
The amount of sugar in the final product is about 6-8 grams per 8 ounce glass of kombucha. By comparison, 8 ounces of OJ has about 24g.
Kombucha is known for being a great source of probiotics (healthy bacteria) for the intestines, with loads of vitamins, and detoxification properties to cleanse the body and support a healthy immune system.
